Happy April sisters on the wall! I trust this blog post finds you enjoying glimpses of spring wherever you are. This month we’re going to hear from two of our sisters serving in Loveland, Colorado and we get to hear from Kimberly first! Please join me in praying for her and her specific prayer requests at the end.
1. Tell us about you! Who you married, where you live, how long you’ve been married, where you went on a honeymoon, how many kids and ages.
I’m married to Nathan and we’re about to celebrate our 16 year anniversary! For our honeymoon, we spent a week in Playa del Carmen and then took a Mexican bus across the border to Belize for an extra adventure. We live in Loveland, CO. Our children are Moriah-13, Will-11, Elisabeth-9, and Zoe-6.
2. What are your hobbies? How did you get started on them?
My favorite hobbies are running and paddle boarding. Nathan coaches cross country, so running is something we “enjoy” as a family. I grew up boating – water skiing and wake boarding – so paddle boarding is something that still enables me to be in my happy place on the water. I also enjoy training for Spartan races and reading when I’m able to sit still for a bit. Also, I think drinking coffee with friends counts as a hobby!
3. What’s a book or movie that has had a big impact on you and you’d recommend?
The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown is a very insightful book that I really benefited from as someone who struggles with shame and being a perfectionist.
4. What is something the Lord has been teaching you recently?
Lately, I’ve been learning how to grieve well. Rather than just being sad or angry about hard things happening: friends battling cancer, extended family drama, friends moving, injustices, etc. and then pushing forward pretending I’m ok, I need to allow myself to meet God in the depth of those things. There are no shortcuts through grief. Lamentations 3:20-26, Isaiah 61:1-3 and Luke 24:13-34 have been very meaningful. Specifically the part in Luke where they recognize “they had hoped” things would look differently. God is sad and mad with me! He’s not against me but cares for me deeply.
5. What can we be praying for you this month?
This month, I would love prayer for endurance and encouragement. My son and I are both healing from broken bones in our hands (unrelated injuries). This is in addition to caring for my mother in law and trying to finish the school year and extracurriculars well!
Thanks for sharing a slice of your life, Kimberly! I just prayed for encouragement and endurance & I’m so sorry about 2 of you with broken bones!! Thats rough!!! Beautiful family photo! 💜
Loved your family photo and love the water myself! Praying for you in all the Lord has for you. Great verses to meditate on–may God grant you endurance, encouragement, and healing in Him.
