Hello sisters on the wall. Welcome to the first post of our new M28 pastor’s wives blog! I’m really excited to have another opportunity to continue getting to know one another, pray for each other and connect our lives across the miles. Each month we’ll get to hear from a couple of our sisters serving in our different churches. This month is Sarah Alber and Christine Miller from Denver. Both of these women are incredibly dear friends of mine that I’ve known and loved for decades. I asked them if they’d pioneer this first month with me and they graciously said yes. I hope you enjoy reading Sarah’s answers today as much as I did.

1. Tell us about you! Who you married, where you live, how long you’ve been married, where did you go on a honeymoon, how many kids and ages.

I’m Sarah Alber, and I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Brad, for almost 16 years. We met in 2004 at the Denver church plant and are now blessed with four children: Phoebe (12), Josie (10), Clement (7), and Levi (5). Our honeymoon was in Costa Rica, and if we could, we’d love to go back and stay at Tabacon, a beautiful hot spring resort that was a highlight of our trip. I’ve included a family picture from our Yellowstone trip last year.

2. What are your hobbies? How did you get started on them?

Hobbies are a bit limited in this season of life, but I enjoy things that involve caring for my family. We have chickens (I’m not a fan of indoor pets that don’t contribute!), and I love cooking and baking for loved ones (I’m gluten-free, always have been), hosting, movies, making photo books, and cross-stitching. My mom taught me to cross-stitch as a child, and I find it a creative outlet for a left-brained person. I also love making photo books on Shutterfly because my kids enjoy looking back at our fun trips and special family memories.

3. If you had a free weekend and could spend it anywhere you wanted and any way you wanted, what would that look like?

My ideal free weekend would definitely include sleeping in, enjoying delicious food, playing board games with my family, taking a nap and a long shower, making sushi with everyone for dinner, and watching a good movie. That said, a recent 40th birthday weekend with friends at Mount Princeton Hot Springs was amazing, even though my family wasn’t there! I also love traveling and the beach, so I’d try to fit that in too if I could have it any way I wanted.

4. What is something the Lord has been teaching you recently?

Lately, God has been reminding me that He is my strength and stability in all things. Psalm 28:7-8 says:

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. The Lord is the strength of his people, he is the saving refuge of his anointed.”

When circumstances are tough, I can trust Him completely. When life is peaceful, I can rest in His provision and not fear the future. He keeps me steadfast. I’m grateful for His blessings and care, knowing He holds my future securely.

5. What can we be praying for you this month?

I would appreciate prayers that I would be life-giving to those around me: a blessing and joy to my husband, loving and wise with my children, encouraging to fellow believers, and salt and light to those who don’t yet know Christ.
